Year 5 to 12 students and parents

Teacher asks students to do a powerpoint presentation on their summer holidays. One student raising his hand asks, 'Miss, didn't you follow me on TikTok over summer?

There are many benefits to using the Internet in schools, but it is key to harness this powerful tool. Schools are legally obliged to provide an effective and safe online learning environment for students.

The technology policy, also known as Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) stipulates how students must use Internet-connected equipment at school. Parents need to understand the AUP so they can encourage its principles at home.

Signing an AUP at the beginning of the year is not enough, students need to be taught digital citizenship and encouraged to put this into practice throughout the school year. Parents would do well to study this topic to guide their children. There are many digital citizenship books and free online courses available.

Question: Is there anything in the AUP you do not fully understand? I advise you to contact your school for clarification.
