Now AI creates its very own FAKE NEWS
Year 6 to 10 students, parents, and teachers
All right, you heard the term 'fake news' a million times and you may even know that it is hopeless at describing what it actually meant to mean. Terms like: misinformation - incorrect or misleading information, malinformation - genuine info that is shared to cause harm and disinformation - false info that is deliberately created and shared with the intention to cause harm, are much more useful. Cyber Whispers will take you on a journey pestered by ghosts, but you'll learn how and why fake news is created, distorted, and spread. More importantly, you'll learn in a fun way how to sort fact from fiction on and offline. Doing research on my novel, I came across an AI called Grover, who is extremely adept at writing convincing fake news on myriad topics and as many styles — and as a direct consequence is also no slouch at spotting it either. It takes a thief to catch a thief takes on a whole new meaning. The creators of this AI were so worried about malicious applications of their technology, that they are keeping their invention under wraps.
Question: How do you know what you read, hear or watch online is true? Is there a method to your madness?
