Your privacy. What is at stake?

Staying-Safe.jpg

Your autonomy and dignity in the world depend on both your freedom to engage and your freedom from undue persuasion or influence. In our digital age, almost everything we do online and even offline is recorded and generates loads of data. Data, which then is on-sold to advertisers, but also used by ever more intrusive government institutions. The relation between privacy and data online is becoming highly complex. This in turn sets a significant media literacy challenge for young people (and their parents and teachers) as they try to understand and engage critically with the digital world.
Education for young and old is the key. Plenty has been written for adults, but way too little has been written for young people. Realising this, inspired me to write the Team Savv-i series, for I hope my readers will become a lot more savvy about not only staying safe and using the Internet to their advantage, but also to become vocal in protecting their rights and dignity.

Do you value your privacy and how do you feel it is being eroded or is it not an issue for you at all?
